Electing a President in Wartime--Tuesday, March 4

(February 26, 2014) The presidential election of 1864 was fraught with peril for the Union cause.   The North was weary of war and the Union armies seemed mired in stalemate with their Confederate foes.  Lincoln’s Democratic opponent was the popular General George McClellan, and the President was faced with a revolt inside his own party.  Join us Tuesday, March  4, at 7:00 pm, as Professor Leslie Heaphy presents an interesting and informative talk on this often-overlooked facet of Civil War history.  This program is one of several the  Library has scheduled to complement the traveling exhibit Ohio and the Civil War: 150 Years Later hosted by the library through March 26.
