Hunger Games Mockingjay Fan Jam

Test your skills against other Hunger Games fans on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 2:00-3:30 as Minerva Public Library hosts a Hunger Games Mockingjay Fan Jam. Join us for games, crafts, snacks, trivia and other fun. Enter to win exciting... Hunger Games prizes including movie tickets for the opening weekend showing of Mockingjay, Part 1. Dress like your favorite tribute or wear your most outlandish Capitol clothing. Healthy Holiday Cooking--Tuesday, 7:00 pm

(October 30, 2014)  Join us at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 28 to learn how to enjoy holiday food and fun without packing on the pounds.   With meal planning tips and healthy versions of holiday favorites, Chris Kendle from the Cooperative Extension Service will show you that staying healthy during the holidays doesn’t have to be a bore.   Get in the mood for festive food with new recipes and samples of a few healthy holiday treats! This program is for all ages and free to the public. No registration is required.


Superstitions!--Coming this Tuesday

(October 22, 2014) Worried if a black cat crosses your path?  Avoiding ladders?  Careful around mirrors?  Join us at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 28th, as Lynette Reiner from the McKinley Museum explains the mysterious origins of some common beliefs and what they might mean.   This program is entertaining for all ages and free to the public. No registration is required.

LEGO Day--Thursday, April 2, 2:00-3:30

(March 31, 2015)  Love building with LEGOs?  Get together and create with others who like them too!  The Library is hosting a LEGO Day during Minerva Local Schools Spring Break on Thursday, April 2 from 2:00-3:30 pm.Our large assortment of LEGO blocks will be available for imaginative builders to use that afternoon in the Community Room on the library's lower level. This entertaining activity is designed for ages 6 and up.  Parents are encouraged to attend. Because space is limited, registration is required.  Stop at the Youth Desk to sign up or call 330-868-4101 and ask for Youth Services.

Music in Motion Toddler Program--Friday, October 24, 10:30-11:10

(October 22, 2014) Does your toddler love to dance and make music?  Come to the library and join Miss Karla on Friday morning, October 24 from 10:30-11:10 for our Family Fun Special "Music in Motion".  This interactive program is presented for toddlers 16 to 36 months old accompanied by a parent or caregiver who will be their Music in Motion partner.

Stark County and the Great War--Tuesday, 7:00 pm

(October 15, 2014)  Join us Tuesday, October 21, at 7:00 for an informative, illustrated program on the role of Stark County during World War I.  Mandy Altimus Pond, Archivist at the Massillon Museum, will discuss life on the homefront, the role of women in the war, and the effect of the war on our county.   This program is the first in a series of occasional programs presented by the library to commemorate the centennial of World War I.  The program will be of interest to all ages and is free to the public. 

Civil War Monuments of Ohio--Tuesday, October 14

(October 7, 2014)   Join us Tuesday, October 14, at 7:00 pm in the library's meeting room as area author Harold George presents an informative illustrated talk on Civil War monuments in our state.  Who built the monuments and how, and what units or battles do they commemorate?   See the monuments in a "then" and "now" format with slides of historic postcards and contemporary photographs.   This program is of interest to all ages and free to the public. 


Fall Book Sale This Week

(September 29, 2014)  The fall book sale is in full swing with books for all ages and interests for sale at just 25 cents each.   Stock up now for your winter reading.   New items are added every day, so make sure to stop by by several times this week.  Proceeds support library programs and the purchase of new materials for you to check out and enjoy.                            


Book Art Program, Saturday, October 4

( September 24, 2014) Join us for an introduction to the art of creating articles of whimsy and beauty from used books on Saturday afternoon, October 4 from 2:00-3:30. This make and take Book Art program is open to adults, teens and school age children.  An adult will need to assist children 10 and under.  Space is limited. Call 330-868-4101 to sign up for an afternoon of learn-how-to fun!   Inspired by the program, you may want to purchase some very affordable "materials" for creating more art at home.  On October 4 you will pay only $1.00 for a whole bag of books at our Fall Used Book Sale.
