Book Sale Success

(July 2, 2010)  The library's summer book sale took in $668.80.  Thanks to everyone who took time to browse and buy, and to all the generous donors of books and other materials for the sale.  The proceeds will be used this year to purchase new library materials for you to check out and enjoy.  The library's fall book sale is not scheduled yet, but keep an eye on this website for more information.

High School Summer Reading List

(July 31, 2010)  Students who haven't started on their required summer reading need to get cracking, and the library is ready to help.  We've posted the list of summer reading books required of, or encouraged for, the students enrolled in the various English classes at Minerva High School this fall.  The library owns copies of all of these books and has brought in additional copies to help meet demand.  However, the student who waits too long to get a book may be disappointed.  So give us a call today at 330-8

Welcome Back Students

(August 29, 2010)  The Library Trustees and staff would like to welcome Minerva Local Schools students and staff as they begin another school year.  Most Minerva Elementary School students will visit the library regularly with their classes, as will some students from the Minerva Middle School.  Many students will visit the library, even if briefly, on their own after school.  We welcome all students to the library and are happy to provide a comfortable place for you to visit.

Back-to-School Special

(September 9, 2010)  To help younger library patrons start off the school year right,  the Library has decided to waive all outstanding overdue fines for library cardholders younger than 18.  Thats's right, whether it's 10 cents or $10.00, those overdue fines have been forgiven this one time in order for all of our local students to make full use of the library.  So now is your chance to make a fresh start and visit the library.  We know that children can forget to return books on time, or that siblings or parents sometimes don't return things to

Library Closed on Monday, October 11

(October 6, 2010)  A reminder that the library will be closed on Monday, October 11, as a furlough day without pay for all library staff. No library materials are due on days the library is closed. This is the third of five furlough days all staff will take in 2010 as part of the library's measures to reduce spending due to the State of Ohio funding cuts to libraries.  In addition, all staff are working 10% fewer hours than usual throughout the year.

Fall Book Sale Underway

(November 1, 2010)  The library's Fall Book Sale kicked off at 10:00 on Friday, October 29.  The selection this year is bigger and better than ever, with books for all ages and interests, as well as VHS tapes for adults and children, music CDs, and DVDs.  The sale runs through November 6, and on that day, Saturday, November 6, everything goes for $1 a bag. All book sale proceeds are used to purchase new library materials for you to check out and enjoy, and to support library programs for all ages.

Book Sale Success!

(November 7, 2010)  Thanks to everyone who shopped at the library's fall book sale during the past week.  You found many interesting things to purchase and raised just over $1000 for the library to use for the purchase of new materials for you to check out and enjoy.  A special thanks to the many generous library patrons who donated books, CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes for this book sale, you contributions ensured that eager shoppers found many different things to choose from.
