Library Wish Lists at Amazon.com

(October 15, 2009)    The library has set up wish lists at  Amazon.com and would appreciate your help in purchasing materials for everyone to check out and enjoy.  Because of the dramatic decline in library funding this year, the Minerva Public Library has cut its spending severely.  Since the end of July, we have relied only on donated money and book sale proceeds to pay for newly-published, high-demand, library books, DVDs, audiodbooks, and other

$1 a Bag Booksale Begins!

(October 23, 2009) The library's fall booksale comes to a thrilling conclusion with the $1 a bag bonanza.  Fill a grocery bag with books and pay only $1.  The sale starts Saturday 10/24 at 10:00 am.  There are still many interesting books to choose from and all proceeds will fund the purchase of new library materials this fall.  Thank you for your support. 

A Successful Book Sale!

(November 6, 2009)  The library's fall book sale came to a successful conclusion with the always-popular $1a bag spectacular.  Eager readers found many great buys among the books generously donated by library patrons or withdrawn from the library's collection.  The book sale raised $1341.70, all of which will be used to purchase new library materials this year for you to check out and enjoy.  Thanks for your continued support. 

Star-gazing at the Library--This Tuesday.

(November 18, 2009) Because of clouds and rain predicted for  Thursday, 11/19, the astronomy program is postoned to its rain date of Tuesday, 11/24 7:00 pm.  Join us for a computer-assisted tour of the night sky. presented by Bob Sudomir.  Afterwards, weather permiting, we'll meet outside the library for star-gazing.  Telescopes and hot chocolate will be provided.  Arrive early, before 7:00 pm, and view

Happy Thanksgiving

The Trustees and staff of the Minerva Public Library wish you all a pleasant holiday and safe travel.  The library will close at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, 11/25 and will remain closed through Sunday 11/29.  The library will re-open at its usual time of 10:00 am on Monday, 11/30.  Friday and Saturday of this week are mandatory days of leave without pay for all library staff.  This leave is part of the belt-tightening the library has done this year in order to make do with reduced funding. Hat and Mitten Tree Success!

(December 17, 2009)  Thanks to everyone who donated hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves for the library's Hat and Mitten Tree this year.  Those items have been given to the Salvation Army to warm up Minerva area families this winter.  The Hat and Mitten Tree is an annual program of the library's Youth Services Department and relies on library patrons and staff for donations. As always, your generosity is appreciated.

Library Holiday Hours

(December 17, 2009) Happy Holidays from the Trustees and staff of the Minerva Public Library.  We wish you pleasant times with family and friends and safe travel.  The library will be closed from Wednesday, December 23 though Sunday, December 27, and from Thursday, December 31 through Sunday, January 3.  No library materials are due on days the library is closed.  The 12/23 and 12/26 closed days are mandatory days of leave without pay for all library staff.  This leave is part of the belt-tightening done by the library this year in order to make do wit
