Ghost Hunters--Saturday, 1:00 pm

Do you believe in ghosts? Come join television ghost hunters ORBS (Ohio Researchers of Banded Spirits) one of Ohio's premier paranormal teamsy on Saturday, May 7, at 1:00 pm in the Community Meeting Room.  ORBS has been featured on Animal Planets "THE HAUNTED", Biography Channels "MY GHOST STORY", History Channels "HAUNTED HISTORY" and this year's new Destination America Channel series "PARANORMAL SURVIVOR". Having worked on well over 350 cases to date the team will discuss everything from types of ghosts; ghost hunting equipment they use and how it works, how to investigate;  and places they  have investigated.   And they will share some audio and video of some of the most compelling evidence collected during their investigations.  The ghost hunters of ORBS are always interested in your stories.  So come prepared to be amazed, astounded, and surprised.  This two-hour program is for all ages and is free to the public.

Grilled Pizza--Monday, 7:00 pm

The days are getting longer and the first big cookout holiday approaches. This year why not try grilling pizza. Worried that you’ll set everything on fire? Fear not.  Join us on Monday, April 16, at 7:00 pm as Chris Kendle from the OSU Extension Service will demonstrate how to prepare and cook pizzas on the grill without fuss or flare-ups. Since this program involves open flames, it will be held outdoors outside of the library, and of course recipes and samples will be provided.  This program is free and no registration is required.

Civil War Spies--Monday, May 23, 7:00 pm

Spying is often called the "second oldest profession" and historically speaking it well may be. Join us this coming Monday at 7:00 in the Community Meeting Room as Civil War re-enactor Paul Goebbel presents an informative talk that will explore the use of new technology and the old methods used by both sides in America’s bloodiest war.  This program is free and of interest to all ages.

2016 Summer Reading

Youth Services Reading Rewards have begun.  Come into the library any time this summer to receive a bag with an activity sheet, a reading rewards game grid*, and a program calendar.

*The game grids will have three levels: bronze, silver, and gold. Win prizes by turning in completed game grids.

Man Made Marvels--Monday, 7:00 pm

So you’ve been to the library to see the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.   Now it’s time for dramatic feats of engineering.    Monday, June 27, at 7:00 pm, Lynette Reiner presents Man Made Marvels in the library’s Community Meeting Room.   Lynette, from the McKinley Museum, has presented several popular programs at the library.  This time, visit the Eifel Tower, Hoover Dam, Golden Gate Bridge, and more in this illustrated, informative look at triumphs of human ingenuity.   This program is free and of interest to all ages.

 

New Farms, Big Success--Documentary Film--Monday, October 17, 7:00 pm

The Minerva Public Library presents the second in a series of documentaries about farm to table agriculture.  Small Farms, Big Success presents three ecologically responsible farms in the USA and Canada. Their unique business plans eliminate the middle man, use sustainable methods and few fossil fuels and show a decent living can be made! These new farming practices avoid the destructive trap of industrial food production and its financial burden.
