Spring Book Sale--May 9-16

(April 29.2015)   The postponed Spring book sale is now scheduled for Saturday, May 9 through Saturday, May 16 with even more books at bargain prices for all ages and interests.    This sale also includes special-priced books of particular interest, audiobooks for children and adults,  CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes.  New items will be added to the sale throughout the week.  So plan to shop early and often.   Proceeds support special programs at the library as well as the purchase of new materials for you to check out and enjoy. 

Big Foot! Saturday, May 9

(April 29,2015)  Join us Saturday, May 9 at 1:00 pm as Dan Baker and the team from American Primate Exploration (A.P.E.) present detailed research about Big Foot and new evidence of Big Foot in our three-county area.   See the life-size replica and numerous foot casts!   Meet the research team and share your own experiences and sightings.   Learn more about Dan Baker on Youtube.  The program is free and no registration is required.

(May 14, 2015)  The spring book sale is almost over, but there are still many books for all ages and interests left to choose from.   Saturday, May 16, is the fabulous $1 a bag sale where you can fill a grocery bag, or two, or three, for only $1 each.   Stop by today for the best selection, and come back Saturday for the great bargain.  

SuperHero Summer Fun Kick-Off

( May 28, 2015) The theme for Summer Reading this year is EVERY HERO HAS A STORY.  To get things started we invite children of all ages to stop in any time between 10 am and 4 pm on Friday, June 5th and Saturday, June 6th to participate in fun and creative SUPERHERO activities and games. Each child should bring an XL or XXL adult tee shirt (one you do not want back as a tee shirt) and we will show you how to transform it into a superhero cape and mask. Among the several other additional activities are creating a Superhero identity and taking pictures in the superhero photo spot. Parents, grandparents, or a caregiver should accompany children to assist them in the activities.

Join Officer Eric Stanbro and his K-9 partner at BOOK BLAST this Friday, June 19 at noon.  Officer Stanbro will explain his duties as Head K-9 Trainer and those of his K-9 partner during this informative family program. 

All students age 18 and under receive a FREE lunch, so bring your blanket or towel to spread on the floor while you enjoy this one hour program.  Please call the Minerva Public Library Youth Department at 330-868-4101 for more information.

 

World War II POW Adventure--Monday, 7:00 pm

(June 23, 2015) This year marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, and the library is pleased to honor the experiences of one veteran.   Join us  Monday, June 29, at 7:00 pm in the Community Meeting Room as Mandy Altimus Pond presents Forced March: From the Bulge to Berchtesgaden.  Ms. Pond, Archivist, at the Massillon Museum, will detail the experiences of her grandfather, Major John J. On Friday, July 3 Minerva Public Library Youth Services will host CAPED CRUSADERS and COMICS from 11:00-2:00.  The lunch program is on holiday, but the library will be open, so drop in for our Super Hero activities.  Please bring a t-shirt which you can transform into a super hero cape. Create your own super hero character and comic and use you super powers in our game area.This program is for all ages and no registration is necessary.
