(August 28, 2014) Because we want to encourage young readers and get the school year off to a good start, the library has forgiven all the overdue fines for library patrons younger than 18. Any fines dating before August 18 have been waived, and so any younger person's card that was blocked because of overdue fines should be ready to use again right now. However, we have not forgiven the charges for lost items--things were checked out and never returned. To solve that problem, young patrons need to return those long-overdue materials to the library. Doing so will automatically remove the lost item charge and might well make the card usable again.
