Astronomy Afternoon @ the Library

(January 24, 2012) Join us this Saturday, at 3:30 for an afternoon of astronomy excitement.  Dr. Judith F. VanZante from the NASA Glenn Research Center will talk about exploring the solar system, including the possibility of colonizing other planets, and whether life might be found on a distant moon.  At 4:30 we'll have a tour of the winter night sky using some nifty planetarium software. Star Gazing Outside with Telescopes--Cancelled

(January 18, 2012) Due to overcast skies and rain, the stargazing session scheduled for this evening has been cancelled.  We are undaunted and will try again later.  Weather permitting, the Wilderness Center Astronomy Club will bring their telescopes and their expertise to the library on Monday, January 23 for an outdoor star gazing session.  If the sky is clear, we'll be looking up.  Stop by for guided tour of the winter sky.  Hot chocolate will be served.  If it's cloudy, we'll try again another evening. 

Library Closed Monday, January 16

(January 9, 2012)  The library will be closed Monday, January 16 as a day of mandatory unpaid leave for all library staff.  This is the first of five furlough days staff will take this year as a cost-saving measure.  No library materials checked out at the Minerva Public Library are due on any day that the library is closed.
